Getting guinea pigs.

Squeak Squeak  as I opened the door. Tom, Jack and Sara  were holding some cute little creatures. Tom, Jack and Sara are my mum’s friend’s kid’s.

The small animal’s  were squeaking with joy I creeped over to the bright yellow cage and carefully picked up my  fluffy brown guinea pig. He was five weeks old when I got him. I put him in the box full of fresh yellow hay. Then my big brother Jared got his cute red eyed guinea pig and carefully placed him in the box. Jared’s one is gray and he has a wide strip of white on him.

20 minutes later….. we said bye to them.

Once we got home we set up the old fish tank for the guinea pigs first we put some old newspaper on the bottom and then some hay It is important to clean out their house 2-3 times a week so they don’t get sick or stinky.

Than we made a little wood house so they can cuddle up and keep warm. Then I chopped some celery and carrot and placed a bowl of water. It was set up and ready for them.

I carefully put them in the tank and then they went to bed in there house that we made it for them.

Something I found tricky was getting the information that I need to make my writing better for the reader.

Something I'm proud of getting the right information so I can tell you how I got my guinea pig's in detail

I have been working on detail in my writing so it is more interesting for the reader.

I hope you enjoyed reading my writing.

Math area task.

Something I am proud of this week is my maths area task, I worked very hard of it to complete it to my personal best.

Something that challenged me was trying to work it out because you can't use Some times tables.

Something I would change next time is getting different shapes because I used one more than once.

For Matariki I did cooking because I like cooking and its lots of fun. Totara hub had lots of fun doing Matariki I cant wait for next year.

Something I learnt was all the different ways that I can celebrate matariki. Something I learnt about cooking was how to make, roll and fri the fri bread.

I am proud of using my manging distaction mucels to do my best
Something that challenged me was grating the cheese and carrots because it was hard to grate it when it got small.

Mould science.

Have you ever seen disgusting mould? Mould can grow in the bathroom shower or even worse on your food. Did you know that some moulds are good like lemon mould is one of the moulds that’s  good for you.  If you you would like to grow mould
If you want to do a fair experiment to grow mould follow my instructions .

Equipment you need:

  • 3 Plastic containers with lids. /  Big zip lock bag.
  • 3 Labels.
  • 3 Samples of cheese, bread or a mandarin. That are the same. So you can only pick one. / NO MEAT OF FISH.
  • 1 Black marker.
  • Somewhere safe to store them.
  • Some water to wet the sample.
Steps:
For Testing Moisture.
  1. First make sure you have everything.

  1. Then use the marker to write on the labels, on one write wet sample, then on another write dry , on the last one write moist.

  1. Completely wet one of the samples. Place the wet sample in the container or zip lock bag and push lid on then put the label on top. Next dip your hand into the water and sprinkle the water over the moist sample and put into the container and place the label on the container's lid , Then put the lid on. On the last one just put the dry sample in the container and place the label on top.

  1. Store in a safe place.

5. Watch the mould grow over the days.

I have put an effort to into writing this. I hope you will try this your self, because it's fun to do and to see if mould grows.

Something that I found challenging was using the feedback to make changes.

Something I am proud of is my steps because I had to to get them correct so it makes sensce and you can do this amazing experiment.

Name art.

For my art I choose to create a name art. To make my art I had to cut a medium shape of thin card board and paint it once that coat was dry we could paint designs over top of it. Once that was done we can make the letters, with the letters it's important to make tabs so the letters can stick onto the bottom of the base. Once I finished cutting out my letters I could choose the colours to paint my one side of the letters, after that you can draw on the other side and put it together.

The K stands for sports because I have played lots of different sports like Hockey and Soccer.

The first A stands for music because I can play guitar.

The Y stands for creative. I like to create a lot of different types of arts and crafts.

The L stands for how I like to make art.

The second A stands for how I like being outside. I like to do a lot of things outside, like sports.

My design of the base was because I like painting and drawing.

Something that challenged me was drawing the design because I didn't know what to draw.

I am proud of how much effort I put into making my art.

Camp Omatua 2016.

On our way back to school We went to Onekawa pools. When we were there I went on the water slide, in one part of the water slide I went up on the side of the tunel. I had a fantastic time at Onekawa pools I cant wait till I go again.
Something I enjoyed was tubing with my group it was cold but it was fun.
My biggest challenge was making the backpack it was a little bit tricky, because we had to make sure it fitted on the person's back, and could open and close pockets on the bag. It had to have two straps.
Our group's had to make the backpack with only one metre of tape, 15 pages of news paper and one pear of scissors.
One of my favourite parts of camp was the water slide. It was slipperey and a lot of fun Zooming down and I got lot's soap in my eyes.

At camp we played Whonu to find out about each other, I found out Balin liked basket ball.

Trap door writing

It was a normal day at school until the Teacher gave me a very special award. Finally the bell rung. Once I got home and put my award in the cabinet in the lounge but then I saw something.

It looked like a door so I pushed the cabinet side ways. There it was an old trapdoor that was covered in dust, I was curious. Slowly, I pulled the small bronze handle up, then a big cloud of dust blew into my face.

Carefully, I climbed down the humongous rocks “thump!” I fell on the dirt floor. slowly I got up, brushed myself down and checked for injuries.

Then I noticed one of the rocks I climbed down was glowing red I picked it up it wasn't a rock at all  it was a ruby (red diamond) I put it inside my pocket, and kept on walking.

Suddenly I saw a lever. I thought to myself should I pull it or not. I walked over to the lever, I pulled it crash a little cart made a hole in the floor. Not knowing what was going to happen. I  walked over to the cart and opened the little door and and sat inside, “this will be fun” I said to myself. The cart took off I was going so fast that when I looked around all I could see was a fuzzy blur crash! The wooden cart stopped and I flew into the sky “ahhhhhhh!” I screamed.

Splash! I fall Into Deep water, I swam up to the surface desperate for air, where was I? huffing and puffing I swam up to an Island. I looked around to see what was here. I dashed to the other side of the Island. There was a small kayak and paddles, I got into the kayak and paddled and paddled and paddled for two days straight finally I got back to dry  land.

I was very very hungry so I searched land to find something to eat. “Phew!” I found a big tree with bright red, apples hanging down from the dry brown branches. I reached as far as I could. Ohhh I couldn’t get the juicy apple, I looked around to find something I could stand on “yes a log”. I dragged the heavy log right over to the tree stump “bang!” It hit the ground then I stepped on top of the log I reached up to the apple “yay!” I got it. Crunch! I bit into the fruit. As I finished the bright red apple I was thinking of a plan to get back to my house.

I had a plan I just had to find the tracks of the cart I was on earlier I walked and walked trying to find the tracks suddenly I saw something in the distance, It was the cart tracks finally! I can get home “oh no!” There was A gate that said in big bold red letters DO NOT ENTER. out of the corner of my eye i saw a tunnel. I got down on my hands and knees and crawled through the small dirt tunnel and it lead straight where I needed to go. I slowly crawled out of the small tunnel and I was standing beside the hole that the wooden cart made.

I ran up to the rocks and climbed out of the trap door “finally!” Im home. running to my room I remembered I had a ruby in my pocket, I closed my bedroom door and placed the ruby in my draw. “Dinners ready!” yeld mum. “Coming!” I said I running to the dinner table.

By kayla.Thank you for reading my writing I hope you enjoyed it, I have put lot’s of effort into it to make it my personal best. I am proud of the detail that I have put into my writing, how I used my  feedback to make my writing better. I am also proud of how I used the thesaurus to change my words to make my writing more exciting.

Soccer skills.

I was learning to share my prior knowledge about my interest. I made it about Soccer skills.
I made this soccer slide because I enjoy playing and I would like to share my knowledge with you. Something I found challenging was trying to put the information in my own words and making them make sense for the reader. I hope you learn something.
